Description

Alexander Khubeev (*1986)
Octophony (2010)
for four flutes and four saxophones

The main idea of this music piece is search for new combinations of sonorics and microtonality: the instruments are treated here as non-equi tempered, which is mainly achieved by the modified design of flutes, as well as the use of non-standard phonation techniques that create pitch-differentiated and undifferentiated noises. The specific timbre aura of the piece is created by comparison and interpenetration of microtonal accords and various noises.
