The 2th Arpademia Composition Competition dition for classic and Lever Harp

Art. 1 The competition is open to composers of any nationality without age limit.

Art. 2 The composition is for harp with pedals or levers, contaminations of any kind may be included, described in detail in the score and achievable by the harpist in the performance (in the case of using a text, this may be the composer’s or another author, sacred or profane, in Italian, French or English, however in the public domain).
A professional is available, who can be contacted via the e-mail arpademia.composition@gmail.com who will publicly respond to possible technical-compositional requests for Arpa on the FB page.
The composition, lasting between 3 and 6 minutes, must be unpublished and never awarded in other competitions, be entitled to a place of cultural interest in Piedmont shown in the score, must not bear the name of the author / author, but be marked with a motto of recognition. A special “Soroptimist per Acqui Terme” prize is established for the best composition of female composer dedicated to the town in the province of Alessandria; and a “Castelsardo common good” award for the best composition inspired by the territory of the Municipality of Castelsardo SS.

Art. 3 The composition must be sent by registered letter in three copies in paper format, anonymous and without identification marks of the author / author, marked by a motto to be reported on a sealed envelope attached to the composition (containing a photocopy of an identification document, address e-mail, telephone numbers, declaration that the work is unpublished and not awarded in other competitions, short presentation of the piece and indication of the category authorization for any execution, publication, registration and dissemination of the work, copy of the receipt of the payment of the fee of enrollment), by 30 April 2023 at the Popular University of Alto Monferrato, Ovrano Castello Region 28, 15011 Acqui Terme (AL). By the same date, a copy in A4 VERTICAL PDF format of the score must be sent and audio files (MP3, Wav, Midi) named ONLY with the motto, must be sent to: arpademia.concorsocomposizione@arpademia.net.

Art. 4 The composer must pay a registration fee of Euro 45 by 30 April 2023 as reimbursement of expenses, by bank transfer made out to: Popular University of Alto Monferrato, specifying the reason for payment
surname, name and nationality of the student.

Art. 5 In the case of several compositions by the same author, each work must be distinguished by its own motto and linked to its own reference envelope complete with the required documents. Each score must be sent separately.

* voice, other instruments, electronics, etc …. up to a maximum of two elements (see art.2).
** teaching starting from the early years of studying the harp also with the accompaniment of a youth string orchestra.
Art. 7 The delivery of the pieces is scheduled for May 15, 2023. If the delivery date of the works is extended, the results of the voting will be postponed.
The results will be announced by approximately June 15, 2023
Art. 8 The members of the jury are allowed to present candidates by declaring the didactic and / or family relationship. Each juror will issue a statement confirming the existence of such relationships.
Art. 9 The jury will be composed of Prof. Eleonora Perolini, M-o Emanuela Ballio, Prof. Susanna Bertuccioli, Prof. Alessandro Buccini, M-o Paola Devoti, M.o Gianni Possio, Prof. Sara Rusignolo. President of Guria 2022/2023 edition M.o Emanuela Ballio.
Art. 10 The Jury, whose judgment is final, reserves the right to assign ex-aequo prizes, or not to award prizes if the submitted compositions are not considered suitable. It reserves the right to report deserving compositions even if not awarded.
Art.11 The materials sent and the registration fees will be returned only in case of cancellation of the competition.
ART. 12 Participation in the Competition implies full acceptance of the Regulations.
In the event of disputes, the notice in Italian is valid. For any controversy, the Court of Alessandria is competent

The prizes can be cumulative
The compositions (1-2-3 prize) will be published by the Popular University of Alto Monferrato Association and will be disseminated for one year through Musica d’Arpa Store in the Arpademia showcase.
All winners will receive 5 free copies of the publication. Everyone will have a 20% discount on the cover price by purchasing the volumes from the association or Musica d’Arpa, until copies are sold out. Compositions among the winning or recommended pieces will be chosen by the Popular University of Alto Monferrato for programming in a public concert during the Arpademia Festival in Castelsardo (SS) in the 6th edition in July 2023. All participants will receive a certificate of participation, the relative diploma to the winners. All the compositions for Celtic harp will be included among the pieces chosen by the Arpademia Celtic Harp Competition. The absolute best composition will be requested as a compulsory piece at the 2nd Eleonora D’Arborea Competition to be held on 27/31 July 2023 in Lu Bagnu SS.
