We set our call’s theme as “Dividable”.
Your work must fit the conditions below,
Duo or Trio work which can be divided into solo pieces.
*Work for specific instruments are preferable, but work for non-specific instruments is acceptable.
*Multiple versions of the same piece can be an answer to this call, but we are expecting more creative ideas/solutions

Instrumentation: Combination of two or three different instruments/voice listed below.
-mandolin (including mandola tenore*, mandocello/mandoloncello),
-classical guitar (including electric/folk guitar),
-left hand piano,
-saxophone (soprano, alto, tenor),
-clarinette (B♭, A, bass),
-voice (bass baritone)
Only one instrument from the same instrument family can be used. (Switching instruments by single player is permitted.)Mandolin:
– Tremolo / Picking technique must be clearly notated for mandolin.
– Mandola Tenore is GDAE tuning, an octave lower than mandolin.Piano:
-Internal technique for piano can be used, but should be suitable for left hand playing. Please mind that direct play and the prepared materials on piano strings can be denied by the concert hall and even your piece is selected, we might need to ask an alternative version for the premier.
Texts used for voice must comply with one of the following conditions.
(1) Text written in Japanese or its translation (English, German, Italian or French. Other languages can be used if phonetic symbols are provided). In both cases, only Public Domain Texts under Japanese Copyright law of Japan are eligible.
(2) Texts written by the composer. Text should be in Japanese, English, German, Italian or French. Other languages can be submitted if phonetic symbols are provided. Non-linguistic methods of expression are also acceptable.
(3) Original text written by an author other than the composer may be used only If the author of the text agrees to apply to the call as co-creator. The text should be in Japanese, English, German, Italian or French. Other languages can be submitted if phonetic symbols are provided. Non-linguistic methods of expression are also acceptable.
Live electronics is not accepted, but pre-recorded (non-live) materials with stereo/mono output is acceptable. But amplification to instruments is not accepted.

The submitted work must not be previously performed or published.
We welcome all styles of notation. Traditional notation as well as Graphic, Video, Sound or any other media is accepted.
The instruction should be written in either in English or Japanese.
We only accept one work from one composer/artist.
The selection will be made by 20 DEC 2022. The result will be announced on the website.
5 to 10 works will be chosen to be performed at the concert, by the selection committee including performers of Rosetta and a commissioned composer chosen from the previous edition of Rosetta call-for-scores.

Information for selected works and the creators
All rights of the selected work will remain to composers, except for the performing right ONLY for the concert held in spring 2023, when the piece will be given the premier.
There will be no cash prize.
Rehearsal for composers reside outside of Japan will be done through recording correspondence or on web streaming.
Composers are encouraged to visit the concert, however, composers must pay travel expenses themselves. Recording will be supplied to the composers.
One composer from the selection will be offered to be a guest composer for the next edition of Rosetta Contemporary Ensemble Call for Scores. (50,000JPY commission fee for writing a new piece for Rosetta, and to be a member of selection committee of Call for Scores. )
