New pieces for a new instrument: glissotar

Sonus Foundation for the Support of New Music and Contemporary Performing Arts issues a call for scores for composers to submit short pieces, „musical aphorisms” for a new piece, glissonic tarogato (glissotar). Selected pieces will be recorded by Daniel Vaczi and published on our webpage, and the best pieces will be performed at a concert in April 2021 in the Hold Street Church in Budapest, Hungary.

About the instrument:
Dániel Váczi has been working since 2016 with Tóbiás Terebessy on the development of woodwind instruments making continuous pitch (glissando). The first model is the glissotar that is a hybrid tarogato-soprano saxophone. József Tóth, one of the most important tarogato builders, gave assistance to the development. Please check our webpage for a detailed description of the instrument, videos and recordings.

About the expected piece:
The piece should be a minimum of 30 seconds and a maximum of 1 minute 30 seconds long.
