Living Music at Penn State is pleased to announce the 2022 International Call for Scores.

Two works will be selected, with one each in the categories of acoustic and electronic composition. Selected compositions will be presented at the Spring 2022 Living Music Concert, which will take place at the Penn State School of Music Recital Hall on March 31, 2022.

Selected composers will be expected to provide professional performance materials by Monday January 24, 2022.

Selected composers will be invited to participate in a short residency on Penn State’s University Park campus.

While funding for travel to Penn State is not guaranteed, we will do our best to provide financial assistance for the winning composers to participate in a short residency on our campus. Visiting Penn State in person is not required to be named a winner.

Each of the winning composers will receive:
Performance of winning work on the 2022 Spring Living Music Concert. Performed by Penn State performers.
Offer of publication of the winning scores in the journal Ricercare (Universidad EAFIT, Colombia).
Possible financial support to visit Penn State in person for the concert on March 31, 2022.

Composers of all nationalities are encouraged to apply. There is no entry fee, no age limit, and works may have been previously performed. Composers who have graduated from Penn State University are not eligible to apply.

A panel consisting of Penn State Living Music members will evaluate the pieces and choose the winning entries. Penn State professor Dr. Baljinder Sekhon will facilitate the call for scores.

All applications must be completed and received by Sunday November 21, 2021 (11:59pm EST).
The winning entries will be announced by Friday January 21, 2022.
