The course is aimed primarily at young composers, selected by open call for dossiers, who will be tutored by two guest composers of renowned prestige.
The course will be held in mixed format (in person and online), with a face-to-face option (in Barcelona) and online at each meeting at the student’s choice.
Structured in three meetings of three days each (intensive day: from 10h to 14h and from 16h to 20h), the selected active participants will develop a composition project supervised by the two guest composers with the BARCELONA MODERN ENSEMBLE -Fl, Cl, Sax, Vln, Vc, Pno and conductor- (permanent resident ensemble) for acoustic music, or with the ENSEMBLE MULTILATÉRALE (resident guest ensemble) -piano and percussion + electronics- for mixed music. Composers selected from among the listener participants will have a reading session with one of the ensembles, as well as unlimited access to all course activities for both of them.
The course will be developed in person around individual and group master classes given by the guest composers, lectures, instrumental workshops by the musicians of the resident ensembles (who will be available to students during the course), open rehearsals and concerts.
The activity ends with the premiere in public concert of the works by the composers selected as active participants throughout the course.
The course will be held at the facilities of the Institut Français – Barcelona (Calle Moià 8, 08006 Barcelona) and the Fundació Phonos – Universitat Pompeu Fabra (Calle Roc Boronat 138, 08018 Barcelona) between the months of January and June 2023.
