ensemble vim is excited to announce the Composer Fellowship Program. One fellow will be selected to develop a new multi-disciplinary work for ensemble vim during the 2022-2023 season, to be premiered the following season–2023-2024.
The selected fellow will work closely with composer mentor Dr. Emily Koh, members of ensemble vim, and their creative collaborator through workshopping, reading sessions and composition lessons. The exact schedule will be determined with the selected composer based on availability and need.
WHO CAN APPLY:
All composers with ties to the Southeast region of the United States are eligible. Artists from communities underrepresented in classical music are especially encouraged to apply. No formal composition training is required.

ADJUDICATION PROCESS:
Ensemble vim musicians and composer mentor will select one composer for this fellowship. The selection is based only on your proposal and work samples (Section 1), which must be anonymous. Incomplete applications or submissions that identify the applicant will be disqualified.
THE PROPOSED WORK:
Instrumentation: Flute (doubling piccolo and/or alto flute) and cello duo, electronics (stereo) optional
Duration: up to 15 minutes
Must be multidisciplinary — music with collaboration from other creative fields such as but not limited to literature, theater, dance, visual arts, animation, culinary arts etc.

1. 1 page proposal of a multidisciplinary piece that you would compose for ensemble vim if selected. Tell us about your artistic vision, and about the piece you would like to create with ensemble vim. Please elaborate if you already have a proposed creative collaborator. Otherwise, indicate a discipline you are interested in collaborating with, and ensemble vim will help connect you with a local creative collaborator.
2. Two examples of your musical and/or multidisciplinary works in a format that best represents your creative vision.
