Copland House announces the 2021 Copland House Residency Awards. Typically, eight to ten emerging or established composers are selected to live and work, one at a time, for approximately three to eight weeks at Aaron Copland’s National Historic Landmark home in New York’s lower Hudson River Valley, one hour north of New York City. Composers who are American citizens or permanent residents of all backgrounds and identities writing in any genre are welcome to apply. Copland House actively seeks and especially encourages applications by composers from underrepresented communities. Accommodations, meals, housekeeping, and local transportation are provided by Copland House. Residencies will be scheduled between November 1, 2021 and October 31, 2022. Copland House Residents also become eligible for various post-residency honors and performance, recording, or commissioning opportunities.
Composers apply online, by uploading a Copland House Residency Awards application form, three representative works and recordings, resume, and brief description of the project(s) planned for during a residency.
