Confini – call for electroacoustic chamber music

“Confini” is the newborn international call developed by the non-profit organization V.E.R-V. and the Venice Conservatoire of Music “B. Marcello”.

Fully dedicated to electroacoustic chamber music works, this competition is an attempt to respond in a vivifying way to the stagnancy and difficulty that the island is facing, slowly drifting away in unnatural isolation.
“Confini” is open to composers of any age and nationality and it offers the possibility to win a 5-day residency in Venice to present original works on a special event held in the historical concert hall of “Benedetto Marcello” Conservatoire in the 2021 season.

During their stay on the island, winning composers will have a chance to prepare and rehearse their pieces, for 3-days prior to the performance, inside the beautiful church of Saint Cosma and Damiano, working with the ensemble – or any needed musician – selected by the Venice Conservatoire and conducted by Carlo Emilio Tortarolo.

The award includes all travel fees, lodging, meals and basic daily expenses, as well as a professional concert recording.
The jury panel consists of internationally acclaimed composers, such as Claudio Ambrosini and Andrea Liberovici along with a selection of teachers of the Conservatoire and members of V.E.R-V.

Winners will be announced on 16.11.2020
Final dates for the residency will be confirmed as soon as the Covid-19 emergency ends.
