Call for Submission: Composition Course reMusik.org
IX ST. PETERSBURG INTERNATIONAL NEW MUSIC FESTIVAL

The Saint Petersburg Contemporary Music Center «reMusik.org», under the artistic direction of the composer Mehdi Hosseini, announces that the 9th St. Petersburg International New Music Festival is taking place from May 23rd — June 7th, 2022. The reMusik.org Festival is a point of intersection where the diverse world views of contemporary composers meet at a crossroad of musical paths that have emerged in the past few years.
The festival will take place at distinguished venues around the city, which includes the Mariinsky Theater Concert Hall, the New Stage of the Alexandrinsky Theater, the St. Petersburg State Philharmonia, Masterskaya M. K. Anikushina, St. John’s Church Jaani Kirik, Sound Museum, St. Petersburg State Conservatory, and others. Internationally-renowned musical collectives will be performing, such as Ensemble Contrechamps (Switzerland), Vertebræ (France), Vertixe Sonora Ensemble (Spain), neuverBand (Switzerland), Moscow Contemporary Music Ensemble (Russia), NeoQuartet (Poland), Studio for New Music Ensemble (Russia), Y-Band (Switzerland), St. Petersburg Improvisers Orchestra (Russia), and many more. Instead of relying on the form of traditional concerts, we will be offering master classes, pre-concert talks, scientific conferences, forums, presentations, educational lectures, and a variety of workshops.
The Composition Course (curated by composer Alexander Khubeev) will be held in St. Petersburg both offline and online. This creative composing lab is an exciting opportunity for young and emerging composers from around the world. More than 30 composers will be selected through a portfolio application process to meet and work with honors composers and internationally-acclaimed ensembles invited to this year’s festival.
During the 15 days, the Composition Course gives participants access to distinguished composers, concerts, and masterclasses while affording each participant ample time to compose in a relaxed environment and enjoy the famous White Nights Season in St. Petersburg, Russia!
