Composer’s Reading

Composers Reading are curated sessions during which aspiring composers will have the opportunity to work with experienced composers and musicologists. In 2021, the event will take place at the Nizhny Novgorod Conservatory (Russia) from March 16-19.
Among the curators of “Composers Reading” are composer Alexei Retinsky, Ph.D. in art history and pianist Alexei Sysoev, associate professor of the Department of Contemporary Music of the Moscow Conservatory Nikolai Khrust.

Musicians from 18 to 35 years old, who have passed the qualifying round, can participate in the Composers Reading.
To take part in the selection round, you must submit an application by February 10 and send your photo, a copy of your passport, and up to five scores in pdf format to events@unioncomposers.ru. The subject of the letter should indicate “Composers reading”.

Applications are selected by Victoria Korshunova, director of the Moscow Contemporary Music Ensemble, and musicologists from the Union of Composers.

Meals and accommodation for the participants of the readings are paid by the Composers Union of Russia.
Musicians need to buy tickets to Nizhny Novgorod on their own.
After the end of the Composers Reading, the best scores of the event participants will be performed by the Moscow Contemporary Music Ensemble in the fall in Moscow.
Also, following the results of the event, scholars of the Composers Union of Russia will be selected from among the participants.
