14th Composition Competition of the International Festival of Sacred Music

14th Composition Competition of the International Festival of Sacred Music, Fribourg The FIMS International Composition Competition dates back to 1985. Its aim is to encourage the creation of original works inspired by sacred texts or themes. For the 14th competition, composers may submit, by 15 October 2021, an original work composed exclusively for (chromatic) accordion and string quartet. The composition should draw inspiration from Joseph Haydn’s The Seven Last Words of our Saviour on the Cross, String Quartet, Opus 51.

The première of the winning work will take place on Sunday 6 July, as part of the 2022 FIMS programme, and will be performed by the Sine Nomine Quartet and accordionist Teodoro Anzelotti.
The jury of the 14th edition of the FIMS Composition Competition comprises the following internationally acclaimed composers and musicians:
Xavier Dayer, President of the Jury (Switzerland) Composer
Tristan Murail (France) Composer
Stefano Gervasoni (Italy) Composer
Toshio Hosokawa (Japan) Composer
Hans Egidi (Switzerland) Violist

The members of the jury will meet in Fribourg on 17, 18 and 19 November 2021 to deliberate and select the winning works.
