Empathy as an ability to share and respond to other feelings was always a music satellite. New era brought us experiments with different types of emotions: joy, disgust, sadness, happiness, anger or anxiety. In a new music we can find naked feelings, heated to the limit. However composers tend to provoke public further more: what if we exclude them from music? What is a ‘clear’ music? Can it exist at all?

Many researchers believe that peoples’ empathy level influences their music preferences. The correlation between a person and a music piece may be both sided. Music can develop a deeper feeling and emotions. A man can listen to the music that correspond his or her condition, interpreting it from their experience.

During our roundtable we will talk about why people listen to the new music, what do they want to perceive? What treasures we can find in contemporary art and what is a phenomenon of apathy in music?

Emotions are the new treasure of the 21st century. The competition between artificial intelligence (AI) and professional music will be the new challenge of our time, that we are going to discuss with Stefano Gervasoni, Panayiotis Kokoras, Alexander Khubeev, Elena Rykova and Deqing Wen.
