CQ MINUTE

The Catalyst Quartet believes that art can thrive in the digital age, and be a continued source of inspiration and innovation. In commemoration of our 10th anniversary, we are commissioning ten composers from diverse backgrounds to write miniature string quartets. These pieces will exist as stand alone compositions and be featured as ten individually unique music videos that will comprise a Video Album— better representing the way most people experience music today.

Nine composers have already joined the project but the tenth will be decided through a national competition focused on promoting new and emerging talent. The nine composers are Andy Akiho, Kishi Bashi, Billy Childs, Paquito D’Rivera, Jessie Montgomery, Angelica Negron, Kevin Puts, Caroline Shaw, Joan Tower.

THE COMPETITION
One composer and their composition will be selected through national competition to complete the roster and be featured on our new video album! The winner will receive a $750 prize, as well as multiple performances of their work in connection with the project.
