Siena College Choral Composition Competition and Award

The Siena College Creative Arts Department announces a call for score submissions for its annual Siena College Choral Composition Competition. The winning work will be premiered by the Clare Ensemble Singers, a professional chamber choir in residence, on Sunday, April 3, 2021 in the Albany, NY area. A prize stipend of $500 will be available to the winning work.

Entry form and information can be found at https://forms.gle/ztatLUFZceeoTmvs6

The Siena College Choral Composition Award recognizes the creative talents of an artist whose work produces an innovative piece of choral music inspired in some way by The Saint John’s Bible (www.saintjohnsbible.org), an illuminated manuscript bible created by renowned calligrapher Donald Jackson.

Submissions must be accompanied by an explanation of the work’s relevance to the Saint John’s Bible, as well as the theme, “For the living.” Composers are encouraged to spend time with The Saint John’s Bible in person, by visiting a Heritage Edition site such as Siena College. A complete site listing may be found at: blog.saintjohnsbible.org/locations.

Works will be judged through a blind process by a panel consisting of Dr. Timothy Reno, Associate Professor of Creative Arts, members of the Clare Ensemble Singers, and local choral music professionals.

The competition is open to all composers within the United States of America, regardless of background, origin, level of training, or experience. The deadline for submission completion is December 15, 2021.

***Prior to writing and submitting material, composers should read the ENTIRE Google Form below for information about length, voicing, file names, and other requirements.***
