Each selected composer will be paired with an emerging-composer mentor and asked to write a new work for the Bergamot String Quartet, to be completed during the summer of 2021. Lessons with mentors will take place remotely over the summer. Works will be rehearsed and performed in New York City, Fall 2021.
Composers who have applied previously but were not accepted are welcome to apply again. Former MATA Jr. participants must wait one year before reapplying. There is no fee to apply. Program participation for selected composers is free.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
To apply for MATA Jr. 2021, please follow the steps below:
Complete the online application form (access at www.matafestival.org)
Email your two (2) best scores and recordings to MATAJr@matafestival.org with the subject “MATA Jr. 2021 – [Your Name]”.
Scores: All scores (if applicable) must be in PDF format. We cannot open Finale, Sibelius or other notation files. Please name your file with your last name and the title of the work. (Ex: Mozart_EineKleineNachtmusik.pdf). If scores are not applicable to your work, please provide a short explanation (1 page maximum) of how the work was created.
Audio: mp3 format. We strongly encourage you to submit an audio realization of your work. MIDI is acceptable. Please name your file with your last name, followed by the title of the work. (Ex: Mozart_EineKleineNachtmusik.mp3)
