Open Call for Multi-Channel Works: (Pro)Stranstvo

From the 23rd of May to the 7th of June, 2025 the XII St. Petersburg International New Music Festival will be held by the Saint Petersburg Contemporary Music Center ‘reMusik.org’ under the direction of the artistic director and prominent composer Mehdi Hosseini. This annual major forum is the largest festival of contemporary classical music in Russia and one of the most comprehensive platforms for global new music events.

The St. Petersburg International New Music Festival is a unique event within Russia’s musical culture. It encompasses various aspects of modern academic music, including experimental, electroacoustic, electronic music, multimedia projects, sound art, as well as free improvisation. The presentation format is not limited to traditional academic concerts, but goes beyond it by incorporating diverse performances and experimental shows.

As a part of the XII St. Petersburg International New Music Festival, the reMusik.org is launching an open call for international artists who would like to submit pieces for a multi-channel set-up. Musicians and artists worldwide working with spatial multichannel sound are invited to participate. Both personal and curated collective projects are welcome. The program «(Pro)Stranstvo» curated by pianist and conductor Dmitry Shubin, will take place for the fourth time in a row on 25th May 2025.

 

Details:
● Set-Up: ⁠4 to 8 channel speaker setup (set up in a circle, diameter approx. 10 m);
● Formats: Multichannel Audio Files / Stereotape with Live-Diffusion. wav, aif 44.1kHz / 16-bit;
● Length: Up to 10 minutes;
● Presentation Date: Attendance at the performance and the sound check on 25th May is desired, but not obligatory.

For submission, please send the materials, as well as a short bio, photo and description of the work via Dropbox, Google Drive or similar.

Please take note below information for each submission:

•⁠ ⁠The title and a short synopsis of the work (100 words max)*;
•⁠ ⁠A brief biography (100 words max)*;
•⁠ Web links (site, audio, video).
•⁠ ⁠Links to download audio files (e.g. Wetransfer, Dropbox, etc.)

Early application is highly encouraged. Early sent applications with all included information will be viewed, and assessed prior to the application due date. As a result, an application may be approved by the jury before the actual deadline. The applicant, if approved, will then be informed within a few days of his/her acceptance.
