Ekaterina Palagina is a mezzo-soprano, a graduate of the Victor Popov Academy of Choral Art, and a prominent figure on the contemporary vocal scene. She is the founder and soloist of the vocal trio NOĒSIS, an ensemble exploring the boundaries of the latest academic music. She is also the co-author of V3SP3R, a rave performance based on Znamenny chants. She collaborates with the “La Gol” Voice Theater under the direction of Natalia Pshenichnikova, participates in projects by the “prACTica” vocal-instrumental ensemble, and performs as an artist with the Boris Pevzner Moscow Choral Theater. Additionally, she is a soloist and executive producer at the “CoOPERAtion” Lab for New Opera. Ekaterina has participated in leading festivals and laboratories, including Moscow Autumn, Five Evenings, Archstoyanie, the Diaghilev Festival, CONTEXT. Diana Vishneva, Gnesin Contemporary Music Week, and Kurchatov.LAB. She collaborates with composers such as V. Gorlinsky, D. Mazurov, M. Anikeeva, A. Kuzmina, A. Romashkova, N. Prokopenko, O. Gudachev, E. Loban, L. Iskhakova, K. Yanova, E. Khmelevskaya, A. Pospelova, and others.

Alexey Chichilin is a Moscow-based guitarist and educator, virtuoso of the classical, acoustic, baroque, electric, and bass guitar. He graduated from the Academic Music College of the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory and the Moscow State Schnittke Institute of Music. In 2019, he was a resident at the prestigious IMPULS Academy in Graz, Austria. Alexey has collaborated with leading ensembles of the contemporary academic and experimental scenes, including Studio for New Music, KYMAYIC, GAM-Ensemble, Moscow Contemporary Music Ensemble (MCME), musicAeterna, Im Spiegel, the Russian National Youth Symphony Orchestra, the State Symphony Cinema Orchestra, and the Russian National Orchestra, as well as various jazz and rock bands. He has performed at major venues in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod, Perm, and Vyksa, as well as in Riga and Liepāja (Latvia) and Graz (Austria). He has participated in major festivals such as the Diaghilev Festival, Moscow Autumn, Archstoyanie, Gamma Festival, reMusik.org, Biomechanics, and Five Evenings. His repertoire includes 20th and 21st-century compositions, early music, jazz, rock, and free improvisation.

Hrachya Yessayan (*1988, Moscow) is a Russian-Armenian composer, violist, conductor, and improviser. His musical development began under the influence of his grandfather, Hrachik Nikolayevich Yessayan, a performer of ethnic music on the accordion. As a violist, he graduated with honors from the Gnesin Musical College (class of L. Vernigora). He received his degree in composition from the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory (class of Prof. Y. Vorontsov) and completed an assistant internship under the artistic direction of Y. Vorontsov and the academic guidance of T. Tsaregradskaya. He has participated in masterclasses by B. Ferneyhough, M. Spahlinger, M. Andre, D. Kurlyandsky, and other leading musicians. He founded the Grosso Chamber Orchestra (2006) and the “CHTO” improvisational enterprise (2017, together with D. Khramtsov). He is a laureate of Russian and international composition festivals. He collaborates with ensembles such as NoName (Nizhny Novgorod), KYMATIC (Moscow), Studio for New Music, the Moscow Contemporary Music Ensemble (MCME), and the La Gol Theater. His music has been released by HrYM, Melodiya, and Content Haos, and published by MusicaNeo. He has been a member of the Union of Moscow Composers since 2014 and the Union of Russian Composers since 2021. He is active in educational and pedagogical work, giving lectures at the Moscow Conservatory and the Gnesin College. He is currently working on his PhD dissertation, “Mark Andre: Poetics of Musical Composition,” supervised by T. Tsaregradskaya.
The XIII St. Petersburg International New Music Festival will take place from May 23 to June 5, 2026, serving as Russia’s premier annual contemporary music forum. Under the artistic direction of composer Mehdi Hosseini, the two-week event features more than 50 events spanning experimental, electroacoustic, electronic music, and multimedia projects. The unique format extends beyond traditional concerts to include installations, interdisciplinary collaborations, and a comprehensive educational program offering lectures, panel discussions, and composition courses. The festival brings together distinguished performers and specialized ensembles, including Ensemble Répons, the Moscow Contemporary Music Ensemble, and the St. Petersburg Improvisers Orchestra alongside other ensembles and acclaimed solo artists. These diverse presentations and experimental artistic practices will unfold across the city’s leading cultural venues, such as the Mariinsky Theatre Concert Hall, New Holland Island, and the Alexandrinsky Theatre New Stage.
