Aleksey Potapov is a classical and electric guitarist born in the Volgograd region. He graduated from the College of the Serebryakov Volgograd State Conservatory (class of Associate Professor Sergey Matokhin), the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music (class of Professor Alexander Frauchi and Dmitry Illarionov), and completed his post-graduate assistantship at the Moscow Tchaikovsky State Conservatory (specializing in Contemporary Music Ensemble, under the direction of Professor Vladimir Tarnopolsky).
A laureate of international competitions, Potapov has performed with such distinguished ensembles as the Studio for New Music, the Gallery of Actual Music (GAM-Ensemble), the Svetlanov State Academic Symphony Orchestra of Russia, the Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra, and the Moscow Operetta Theatre Orchestra, among others.
He has been a featured guest at numerous contemporary music festivals, including Moscow Forum, Another Space, reMusik.org, Opus 52, and the Tabula Rasa guitar festival. A dedicated advocate for new music, he frequently collaborates with contemporary composers and has participated in many Russian and world premieres.
In addition to his concert career, Aleksey is active in experimental projects and theatrical productions. He has performed in the plays Mama, It’s All Her, and Alena Chizhuk’s Diary at the Center for Dramaturgy and Direction (CDR), as well as the production of Norma at the Theatre on Bronnaya (featuring music by Alexey Retinsky).

Dmitry Shubin is a musician and artist based in St.Petersburg, Russia. His activities covers various areas of new music: contemporary piano music, electroacoustics, new improvised music, conducted improvisation, and graphic notations.
Dmitry Shubin is pianist and improviser, performing live improvised music. He also creates sound installations and audio-video projects with emphasis on the integration of sound and image. He is a conductor of St.Petersburg Improvisers Orchestra, as well as St.Petersburg Improvisers Choir; a founder of Sound Theater; curator of the School for Improvised Music (St.Petersburg). He is the laureate of the Grand Prix of The Sergey Kuryokhin Contemporary Art Award (2016).

The XIII St. Petersburg International New Music Festival will take place from May 23 to June 5, 2026, serving as Russia’s premier annual contemporary music forum. Under the artistic direction of composer Mehdi Hosseini, the two-week event features more than 50 events spanning experimental, electroacoustic, electronic music, and multimedia projects. The unique format extends beyond traditional concerts to include installations, interdisciplinary collaborations, and a comprehensive educational program offering lectures, panel discussions, and composition courses. The festival brings together distinguished performers and specialized ensembles, including Ensemble Répons, the Moscow Contemporary Music Ensemble, and the St. Petersburg Improvisers Orchestra alongside other ensembles and acclaimed solo artists. These diverse presentations and experimental artistic practices will unfold across the city’s leading cultural venues, such as the Mariinsky Theatre Concert Hall, New Holland Island, and the Alexandrinsky Theatre New Stage.
