International Composition Competition Harelbeke

For the eight time, the International Composition Competition Harelbeke for Wind Band will be organized in Harelbeke (Belgium). The aim of this competition is to encourage talented composers to integrate the achievements of contemporary music and current composition techniques into wind orchestra compositions. A unique feature of this competition is that the works of the three finalists will be performed live by the Royal Wind Orchestra Vooruit Harelbeke.

Prizes
At the finals evening, the international jury will award three prizes:
• First prize worth 8,000 EUR
• Second prize worth 4,000 EUR
• Third prize worth 2,000 EUR
• An audience award worth 1,500 EUR

Jury
The jury consists of a president and four ordinary members:
• Luc Van Hove (B), Professor at the Royal Conservatory Antwerp and the LUCA, School of Arts, Leuven. (president)
• John Mackey (USA), composer
• Jan Van der Roost (B), Professor at the LUCA, School of Arts, Leuven
• Wim Henderickx (B), Professor at the Royal Conservatory Antwerpen and at the Conservatory of Amsterdam
• Ed Spanjaard (NL), Conductor and professor at the Conservatorium of Amsterdam.

• 23 October 2022: Application deadline
• 7 November 2022: Announcment of the result of the first round
• 12-14 May 2023: Finals weekend
