Position Description:
The department is seeking an internationally active composer and teacher to offer courses in music theory and composition as well as in a secondary area, preferably in music and new technology.
Qualified candidates must demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring a diverse student population and to working effectively with faculty, staff and students across a wide range of disciplines. They are also expected to engage in research projects and administrative duties based on the needs of the department.
Minimum Qualifications:
– A Master’s degree or, preferably, Doctorate in Music Theory/Composition by the time of the appointment.
– Preferred secondary area of expertise: music and new technologies.
– Good command of Spanish.
Supplemental Information:

2) A Master’s or doctoral degree awarded by a higher education institution recognized by the Ministerio de Educación Nacional (MEN). The successful candidate will be responsible for legalizing any international degrees with the MEN. 3) A statement of research experience and goals.
4) Three original scores in PDF format and, if possible, corresponding recordings (MIDI files are accepted if recordings are not available).
5) At least three years of teaching at the university level.
6) A list of three references with contact information.
Salary:
Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Selection Process:
1)Pre-screening of CVs and supporting documents.
2)Selected candidates will be invited to an online interview consisting of:
– Undergraduate or graduate theory class on a subject provided beforehand
– Composition class with undergraduate and graduate composition students
– Interview with the committee
Dates:
– Last date for receiving applications: until March 15, 2021
– Notification via email to selected finalists: March 26, 2021
– Interview (online): April 2021
– Results: April 27, 2021
– Starting date: July 12, 2021
Place of Work:
The successful candidate will be expected to teach on the EAFIT campus in Medellín.
