2022 WSU Festival of Contemporary Art Music

The Washington State University School of Music invites submissions from composers and performers for the annual WSU Festival of Contemporary Art Music, held March 3-5, 2022 in Pullman, Washington. We are pleased to welcome this year’s special guest, the TORCH Collective, who will perform throughout the festival in concerts and masterclasses.

One submission per composer, performer, or ensemble is welcome in the following categories:
• Works to be considered by the TORCH Collective either as an ensemble or subsets or solos drawn from: Brian Chin, trumpets; Erik Likkel, clarinets; Steve Schermer, double bass; and Bonnie Whiting, vibraphone and percussion
• Live instrumental/vocal performance;
• Electroacoustic works up to 8 channels (live or fixed-media, with or without video);
• Sound/multimedia installations;
• Paper or lecture presentations (durations of 25 or 50 minutes, including discussion time)

Works incorporating dance, video, or other visual media are welcome.

Composers submitting works for live performance must arrange performers. Our concert halls are equipped with a pipe organ, an 8-channel sound system, and video projection. Other non-standard equipment will need to be arranged by the submitter if accepted.

Submissions are due by December 1, 2021 at https://formtool.wsu.edu/music/Signup/index.castle?formid=136

There is no submission fee. There will be a registration fee of $60 per programmed work to assist with expenses for events staff and materials. For other questions, please email scott.blasco@wsu.edu.
