Angelica Gabibova Commissioned for the 2026 St. Petersburg International New Music Festival

Following the conclusion of the 7th reMusik.org Composition Course, the jury has officially selected Angelica Gabibova as the recipient of the 2025 commission award. This distinction, conferred annually upon a single participant of exceptional merit, mandates the creation of a new work to be premiered during the XIII St. Petersburg International New Music Festival (May 23 – June 5, 2026). This initiative underscores reMusik.org’s institutional commitment to the longitudinal support of emerging composers and the integration of their creative output into the festival’s international programming.

The St. Petersburg Contemporary Music Center (reMusik.org) serves as a vital nexus for pedagogical innovation and the promotion of contemporary aesthetics. Since the inception of the Composition Course, the Center has awarded 33 scholarships to participants from 14 nations, ensuring that financial barriers do not impede artistic excellence. To date, the festival has programmed 20 world premieres by former course participants, exemplifying a robust framework for long-term professional integration within the contemporary music landscape.

Angelica Gabibova is a distinguished St. Petersburg-based composer, pianist, and vocalist. A graduate of the Rimsky-Korsakov St. Petersburg State Conservatory, she holds memberships in the Union of Composers of Russia and the Union of Composers of St. Petersburg. Gabibova’s works have been presented at prestigious international creative laboratories and venues across Europe and Asia, including Vienna, Berlin, Istanbul, Dublin, and Krakow. Her forthcoming commission represents the latest evolution in reMusik.org’s tradition of fostering the next generation of avant-garde voices.
