The selected pieces will become part of the repertoire of pieces the ensemble will play when touring in Norway and abroad. With this project, we want to support and promote composers by doing public performances and online distribution of their works. We believe it is important to look outside of Norway’s borders and of the contemporary repertoire to find interesting pieces.
RULES
1. The composition should not exceed ten minutes in length.
2. The composition must be for an open setting for two to ten musicians.
3. The notation can include writing for low, mid and high register, but not specific instruments.
4. Extended forms of notation such as graphic notation, text-based scores, etc. are allowed.
5. Electronics are allowed, but only in stereo. Detailed explanations and a technical rider are required.
6. The composition must be original and written by the composer.
7. The composition cannot have been released with any distribution or record label.
8. The composition can have been premiered beforehand.
AWARDS
The four selected works and composers will be invited first to a workshop in Trondheim, Norway. They will work with the ensemble for two days with the conductor Rik de Geyter and composer Mathieu Lacroix. Afterwards, the composers will be given one month to edit their composition. Afterwards the final version of the pieces will be played at a concert in Trondheim, Norway. The concert will be recorded and released online by Trondheim Sinfonietta.
Travelling is at the cost of the composer, but the Trondheim Sinfonietta will gladly assist in helping with applications to get the costs covered.

The famous HK Gruber, Brett Dean and Steve Reich have all successfully conducted their compositions with TSi. They received a Norwegian Grammy in 2008 and their concerts gain a lot of praise both from critics and audience. More recently TSi has also been on a Scandinavian tour playing music in four Scandinavian countries to present the different types of contemporary musics from each country.
