Between the Dance (2015)
for flute, saxophone, violin, cello and piano
The composition was commissioned by the Polish Cultural Centre in Moscow for the anniversary of Michał Kleofas Ogiński.
I was attracted by the phenomenon of the famous Ogiński’s “Polonaise Farewell” which is equally considered to be the national heritage both in Poland and in Russia. I use his musical theme in my composition, modifying it. The title of the composition gives birth to the musical allusions that appear as if from the music of the dance that has already ceased resounding.
