The Anderson Center’s annual application deadline for residencies during the months May, June, July, September, and October, is 11:59 pm CST on February 15. Applications must be completed before this deadline in order to be considered in the judging period.
On-Going Festival & Exhibition Calls :
The Anderson Center presents exhibitions and events such as the Holiday Celebration of the Arts throughout the year at the historic Tower View campus. Any open calls for entry for both artworks and artists are also posted below, along with residency opportunities.
2021 Residency Program:
Applications are now being accepted for the Jerome Emerging Artist Residency Program taking place in August 2021. This opportunity is limited to early career / emerging artists living within the state of Minnesota or one of the five boroughs of New York City. Thanks to support from the Jerome Foundation, a month-long cohort of five artists will each receive $625/week honoraria, a travel stipend, and more. Application deadline is Feb. 15, 2021. Selected artists, wait-list, and runners-up will be notified by April 4, 2021.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, no call for entries is taking place for any new 2021 general Artist Residency Program spots. The residency program was partially suspended in 2020 and only proceeded for a few months with smaller groups of artists from within 100 miles of Red Wing. As a result, nearly all of the artists selected in the 2020 application process deferred to 2021, leaving no availability next year beyond the Jerome Emerging Artist Residencies in August. Thank you for understanding.
That said, the Anderson Center is pursuing funding for an exciting new program called the First Step Public Artist Residency Program. If funded, this month-long residency-fellowship would take place in May 2021 and only be available to public artists, cultural producers, and social practitioners currently living and working within the state of Minnesota. A determination will be made in December 2020. If the program moves forward, the application deadline would be Feb. 15, 2021. Please stay tuned and check back for additional details.
2022 Residency Program:
The application window for residencies taking place in 2022 will open in September 2021 and close on February 15, 2022. Applications are accepted through the Anderson Center’s Submittable site and juried by a panel of professionals working in the field and former residents. There will be one application deadline for all six months of residencies.
